Australian Racing News: Just this past Saturday, one of horse racing’s most revered champions, Black Caviar, was lost to death after delivering her last foal. Australian Racing Community and fans worldwide mourning the loss of the all time best racer horse. The horse who was famed for its world class performance on the races was euthanized just after producing the ninth foal because it had complications related to laminitis. The very sad thing is her newborn colt died immediately after birth thus bringing an end to a very great history associated with Black Caviar at large scale.
Between 2009 and 2013, Black Caviar made history with a perfect record, winning all 25 of her races. Her dominance on the track included 15 Group 1 victories, where she consistently faced the best sprinters in the world. From 2010 to 2013, the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities ranked her as the world’s best sprinter, further solidifying her position as a racing icon.
Certainly one of the most memorable Black Caviar moments was at the Royal Ascot in England in 2012, where she picked up the nickname “The Wonder From Down Under.” She made dramatic finishing to her Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot in England when jockey Luke Nolen eased up just before the line, but Black Caviar still won by a narrow margin. The win cemented her international reputation; not only that, but she was also given a pat on the nose by Queen Elizabeth II after the race, tacking on further prestige to her victory on foreign soil.
The unexpected passing of Black Caviar has caused a wave of sorrow among racing enthusiasts and followers all over the world who reflect on her wonder career and impact on the sport. After retiring from competition in 2013, she spent the following 11 years as a broodmare, delivering nine foals. Her final days have been met with sadness, as both the mythical mare and her last foal died due to complications soon after birth.
