A group of 19 Graded Stakes winners is in active training as they gear up for their 2024 racing campaigns. Gold Phoenix Horse, a Grade 1 winner, and Nysos Horse, still undefeated, are deserving of mention, having recently put in a scintillating workout at Santa Anita Park. Gold Phoenix Horse, a year-long Graded Stakes campaigner, is back in training after his fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) for a strong showing again. Meanwhile, Nysos Horse, unbeaten in three career starts, lately breezed four furlongs in 48.6 seconds and is nearing an anticipated return to competition.
Emerging from one pretty impressive season this 2023, the Gold Phoenix now returns to the racing arena where it finishes fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) in an admirable showing. Trained by Phil D’Amato, this graded-stakes winner completed five furlongs in 1:01.6 this Monday.
This is the fourth timed workout of the year for him, showing steady preparation ahead of his anticipated return. Gold Phoenix Horse has proven himself as a top contender in graded stakes, consistently delivering strong performances against elite competition. His ability to stay competitive at seven years old speaks to his durability and the careful management by trainer Phil D’Amato. With his experience and recent form, he remains a key player in California’s turf division, where connections are hopeful for another standout season.
Following a brilliant campaign last year in 2023, Gold Phoenix Horse is back at work and is progressing nicely in its training. The Graded Stakes winner, trained by Phil D’Amato, put in a solid fourth in the Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1) and continues to prepare for a 2024 debut. On Monday, the horse was timed at five furlongs in 1:01.6 for his fourth official workout of the year. At age seven, Gold Phoenix Horse is a strong prospect in California’s demanding turf division, with his connections hoping for another successful year in Graded Stakes events.
Another returnee is Nysos Horse, who last year had been absent since scoring decisively in the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3) and who is set to make his comeback this season. Nysos Horse has recently returned to training, having recorded time for a four-furlong workout in 48.6 seconds on Monday. A perfect record was maintained by the four-year-old, who has won three out of three races to date, including the Bob Hope Stakes (G3); therefore, preparations are ongoing. Given his prior solid runs, he should put in an impressive stint in some major Graded Stakes races this year. His latest workout at Santa Anita Park was four furlongs in 48.6 seconds, showing that he is coming along quite nicely and will soon be ready for a return to the highest level of competition.
Gold Phoenix Horse and Nysos Horse are just two of the 19 Graded Stakes winners currently preparing for their upcoming horse races. Other memo horses for the time include Rebel’s Romance (G1), champion Breeders’ Cup Turf of last year; Newgate (G3); Practical Move (G1); and Defunded (G1). The already dynamic field of experienced players continues to grow with the entrance of some emerging names, shaping up 2024 yet again for another hotly contested season-most, especially in the Graded Stakes division.
