The Royal Turf Club has been investing around THB 200 billion, or about USD 5.9 billion, in a huge new resort, “The Royal Siam Haven”. The basic idea is that once the final approval comes from the government, it is sure to bring about certain changes in the entertainment world of Thailand and a lot of focus on Bangkok horse racing.

It would also include, among others, a casino, horse racing tracks, a gold course, a yacht club, and a six-star hotel. Others include fine dining luxury, a theatre, a medical tourism hospital, and a learning center. While the exact location in Bangkok hasn’t been disclosed, the resort is planned to cover about 2,000 acres, making it an ideal venue for Bangkok horse racing enthusiasts.

According to Patvee Surin of the RTCT, agreements have already been signed with international investors from China, South Korea, and the United States. The construction is expected to begin next year and will take around seven years to complete.

This development comes as Thailand’s government moves closer to legalizing casinos. A new bill under consideration could allow casinos to operate within large entertainment complexes that may also include stores, restaurants, and amusement parks. The goal is to draw both local and international visitors, with predictions that most casino in Bangkok customers will be Thai residents.

The RTCT aims to revive its horse racing business, which was shut down in 2018. This new resort is not only expected to bring Bangkok horse racing back but also to establish Thailand as a key player in the global entertainment industry.

The Finance Ministry is anticipated to propose a final bill for the casino in Bangkok and the entertainment complex to the cabinet later this year. Major casino operators like Las Vegas Sands, Wynn Resorts, Caesars Entertainment, MGM China, and Hard Rock Café are reportedly interested in entering the Thai market if the new laws are passed.

The Royal Siam Haven is poised to become a major destination, blending luxury with entertainment and potentially becoming one of Asia’s top spots for high-end leisure activities.
