Steady Ready has once again dominated the track, securing another commanding win over 1000 meters at Eagle Farm. Trained by Tiny and Maddysen Sears, the talented sprinter recorded a time of 56.20 seconds just short of the 55.80 track record he set in his previous start. His latest performance strengthens his position as a major contender for The King Of The Mountain Race, scheduled for March 28 in the Toowoomba Race.

The 750,000 The King of the Mountain Race slot is a highly anticipated event, and Steady Ready will compete under the ownership slot of Javen See. This will be his third appearance in the race, having placed in the top three in both previous editions. He finished third in the inaugural event behind stablemate Yellow Brick and improved last year by securing second place behind Rothfire, missing the win by just 0.30 lengths. This year, he arrives at the race following two consecutive wins, putting him in prime condition for a strong performance.

Co-trainer Maddysen Sears expressed satisfaction with the recent result but believes Steady Ready still has more to give.

“That was obviously a good warm-up for The King Of The Mountain, and if you look at how he has pulled up, there is a lot of room for improvement,” she said. “He’s pulled up quite big actually, so potentially it has worked in his favor that he had to do a bit more early in the run and had a bit more of a fitness run than we anticipated.”

Sears admitted feeling slightly concerned when Steady Ready was caught four-wide early in the race but praised his determination and ability to push forward.

“He showed again he is incredibly talented and a horse to be reckoned with.”

Jockey Cody Collis, who guided Steady Ready to both recent victories, believes the horse is in excellent shape heading into the King of the Mountain race challenge.

“When you know what kind of horse you’ve got under you, you can try to use that extra fuel to get outside the leader or wherever you need to be,” Collis said. “He is an exceptional horse. He’ll be a major contender in The King Of The Mountain Race.”

Collis executed a well-judged ride despite the early wide position, allowing Steady Ready to settle before asserting control in the later stages of the race.

With the King of the Mountain race approaching, the Sears stable will focus on refining Steady Ready’s fitness to maximize its performance on race day. The gelding’s ability to maintain high speed throughout his races makes him a strong competitor, and his previous runs at the Toowoomba Race will be an advantage.

The competition becomes fierce in The King of the Mountain Race.’ Top sprinters from the region line up. Steady Ready’s recent form combined with his previous experience in the race has made him a serious contender.

“Keep him happy and fit as always,” added Pete Sears. “He is feeling extremely pleased-loving life and we couldn´t wish any more how well the horse has progressed.”

Steady Ready seems to be the wonder horse and has consistently proven its speed and horse racing ability, as its latest has staked a place higher among the best sprinters in Queensland. Two straight triumphs at Eagle Farm over 1000 meters suggest intent and readiness for a major contest.

The mileages that Steady Ready has been carrying against a strong record at the Toowoomba Race are hopefully going to convert past placings into victory, for he has this great chance. He will now be under the spotlight for fighting for the top prize in The King Of The Mountain on 28 March.
