Gulfstream Park Horse Racing’s FL White Abarrio, a four-time Grade 1 winner, completed another Sunday workout at Gulfstream Park Horse Racing and is on course for his next start in the Grade 3 Ghostzapper Stakes on March 29. The 6-year-old, owned by C2 Racing Stable, Prince Faisal bin Khaled, and Antonio Pagnano, worked five furlongs in 1:00.0 while keeping a regular training schedule here in preparation to be conditioned for a return to competition.

He last competed in the Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) on Jan 25, at which point the horse obtained an extraordinary victory. His handlers have already lined up a star-studded season for him this year, including such key races ahead as the Met Mile (G1), Whitney (G1), and Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1).

White Abarrio’s fourth consecutive time working out in the week took place under a Sunday breeze at Gulfstream Park Horse Racing. The most recent time was the third best of 20 times recorded for that distance. The week before, he drilled four furlongs at the same track with a steady eddy traveling time to prepare for his first race since the Pegasus World Cup.

A phenomenal horse, White Abarrio, winner of the 2024 Pegasus World Cup Invitational, 2023 Breeders’ Cup Classic, 2023 Whitney, and 2022 Florida Derby, is still a very well-known name in the horse racing business. This horse has continued his top training for more races yet to come at Saratoga Race Course.

On Sunday, White Abarrio was one among 41 graded-stakes winners, who worked out at various tracks in preparation for possible entries at Saratoga Race Course.

Meanwhile, East Avenue, a winner of the 2024 Breeders’ Futurity (G1), worked five furlongs at Fair Grounds. As the prestigious races are on the horizon at Saratoga Race Course, anticipatory feelings rise for these contests.

Gold Phoenix (Belardo), winner of the 2023 Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1), finished the five-furlong work in 1:02.4 at Santa Anita, which ranked 26th of 27 recorded works.

The Ghostzapper Stakes will include a comeback to racing for White Abarrio, which will be part of the undercard for the Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream Park Horse Racing. The 1 1/16-mile race will be a critical stepping stone on the way to higher-grade race events later this year.

Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. has put together a plan that will keep White Abarrio in the best racing form and let him prep properly for larger summer and autumn focuses. The Met Mile at Belmont Park, the Whitney at Saratoga Race Course, and the Breeders’ Cup Classic at Del Mar are rewarding goals within this season.

One of the downfalls of White Abarrio competing at an elite level has been his strict training regime. The traveled Gulfstream Park workouts say he is on schedule for a worthy return in Ghostzapper Stakes, where he wants to add a strong winning effort to his growing list of other wins.

As the 41 graded winners are working out across the country, excitement is building for the imminent season. However, what interests most White Abarrio fans is his performance in the coming race after which he will show what sort of form he carries as he crosses over into the major races on the calendar.
