Uncrowned King 3-Year-Old Colt Dies at Del Mar

A three-year-old racehorse called Uncrowned King was put to sleep on Saturday after he got hurt during a race at Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. This sad event took place in the seventh day’s race, and it was the first horse death of the year at the track in Southern California.

The young horse fell near a marker, and jockey Alfredo Bautista stopped him. Del Mar Horse Track vets looked at the injury and then said that Uncrowned King could not be saved. He was moved by a horse ambulance and later put to sleep because his shoulder was broken.

Del Mar Horse Track person Mac McBride said the choice was made due to how bad the injury was. On Sunday, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club said they were sorry to those who cared for the horse. “We are truly sorry for the loss of Uncrowned King, who was kindly put to sleep by the vets after Saturday’s seventh race because of his bad injury,” the club stated.

Rider Alfredo Bautista was thrown off his horse, but he was not hurt that much. The medics on site looked him over, and he did not have to go to the hospital.

The records say Uncrowned King had only raced two times. His newness and short race record were talked about by those who watched races after the crash.
